Hike to Caillet

Halfway between Chamonix and Montenvers, let yourself be transported to the small chalet of Caillet on the historic path leading to the Mer de Glace. From the Biollay parking lot, a few steps from the Montenvers station, go up towards the Planards business park. Take the 4x4 track. At the intersection, turn right towards Montenvers by Caillet. Continue the path through the woods, cross the railroad. By laces and a crossing, reach the Chalet de Caillet (1590 m) in about 1h30. Other itineraries are possible from Les Bois to Les Praz de Chamonix. Cross the bridge after the camping of the mer de glace. Leave your car on the parking. Continue on foot on your left. Pass the farms and take the forest path on your right. After 3 turns, cross the 4X4 track and continue the trail to the chalet. Count 1h30 of walk From the mer de glace: take the path that starts behind the glaciorium located next to the Hôtel du Montenvers. Reach the chalet in 1 hour. To take in the view, go up to the aiguille du midi with the cable car. On the way back, stop at the aiguille plan, cross the north balcony, climb to the signal then go down to the Montenvers hotel and join for a meal or a short break. Count on a good half day.
