Hike to Caillet

From the Biollay parking lot, just a few steps from the Montenvers station, head up towards the Planards business park. Take the 4x4 track. At the intersection, turn right towards Montenvers via Caillet. Continue along the path through the woods, crossing the railroad line. After a few hairpin bends and a traverse, you'll reach Chalet de Caillet (1590 m) in around 1h30. Other routes from Les Bois to Les Praz de Chamonix. Cross the bridge after the mer de glace campsite. Park your car. Cross the bridge and continue on your left. Pass the farms and take the forest path on your right. After 3 bends, cross the 4X4 track and continue along the path to the chalet. Allow 1h30 for the walk. From the Mer de Glace: take the path that starts behind the Hôtel du Montenvers. It takes 1 hour to reach the chalet. For a breathtaking view, take the cable car up to the Aiguille du Midi. On the way back, stop at the Plan de l'Aiguille, cross the Balcon Nord, climb to the Signal, then descend to the Hôtel du Montenvers and rejoin us for lunch or a short break. Allow a good half-day.
